Out West lives in motion.
An extension of Alchemist’s most resonant fragrance universe, shaped by the belief that being alive is not static but refined through time, memory, and lived experience. This collection is not about perfection, but evolution. Fragrances designed for different moments of the day, essentially connected, speaking to one another without interruption. It is composed for those who own their story. Who holds depth without needing to prove it, grounded in quiet authority and self-possession. There is clarity and tension, discipline and instinct, strength that allows vulnerability.
OUT WEST honors the fullness of being alive. Complexity as truth, presence as power. Because time does not simply pass, it defines.

Alchemist brought in VP perfumers from IFF. Jean-Christophe Hérault who crafted OUT WEST A.M., Pascal Gaurin as crafter of OUT WEST P.M. This represents one of their first collaborations with a Southeast Asian brand. The commitment to global standards and technical excellence is non-negotiable.

Jean-Christophe Hérault speaks about creation as an open state. Inspiration arrives from everywhere, shaped by memory, place, and sensation. When composing Out West A.M, his mind returns to a memory from Turkey: asleep on a boat, waking at the blue hour, the brief moment when night and day collide, sounds disappear, and morning light quietly enters the sky, carrying the feeling of rebirth. He translates this precise tension into scent, imagining the freshness of emerging light layered with the darkness that came before.
Bright citrus of lemon oil from Spain, Pepper Pink CO2, and a touch of ginger that expresses clarity and crispness, while leather, patchouli from Indonesia, cedarwood, and balsamic accords hold weight and shadow. For him, perfume is storytelling: each ingredient a word, each accord a sentence, assembled into an olfactory narrative. Pepper Pink brings light, energy, and lift; patchouli brings richness and depth, allowing light to exist with meaning. Their balance defines the morning moment. By using the finest patchouli and cedarwood, he anchors the composition in luxury

Pascal Gaurin describes his life as a perfumer as an unexpected journey, shaped by surprises, encounters, and a quiet sense of reward that only reveals itself over time.
When creating Out West P.M, he returned to a deeply personal memory: his first move to the United States and the trips he took out west, through Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Monument Valley, places that remain emotionally charged every time he revisits them. For him, scent begins with images, textures, and color.
Pascal saw a rare opportunity to work out of the expected, using Living Gunsmoke as a metaphor. A sudden spark that demands attention, heightens awareness, and makes you present in your surroundings. This sense of freedom, risk, and liberation is what he explores olfactively, softened and made more intimate through rose and vanilla.
Two intentions guided the creation: memorability and performance, one never existing without the other. He ultimately returned to Monument Valley at sunset, the golden hour when the landscape feels larger than life, colors deepen, shadows stretch, and the sky moves from blue to orange to red, before falling into dark blue. That progression, that movement from light into night, is the story he tells through OUT WEST P.M.
